Expectations

How long are sessions?

A standard session is 50-60 minutes. If receiving EMDR services, longer sessions may be necessary.

How often do I need to meet for therapy/coaching?

Developing and establishing a healthy rapport with your therapist is important for the therapeutic/coaching process and can take time. We strive to not rush the process and begin digging deep when you are ready to do so. The first few sessions are really focused on getting to know you, your concerns, and your goals.During the first 4 sessions, please take the time to evaluate whether your therapist is a good fit for you. In an effort to build healthy rapport with your therapist it is most effective for meetings to take place weekly for the first 8-12 sessions (depending on the severity of concerns). We will continue to re-assess along the way and adjust as is necessary for you based on progress and availability. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly sessions are available.

How long will it take?

This will depend on your concerns, commitment to the process, and capacity to do the work (sometimes external factors can make it difficult to truly invest in the process). Often clients will achieve their initial goals, develop new goals, and will want to continue working on those. While there is no set time frame for how long it will take, clients who have been committed to doing the work in session and outside of session, notice improvements within the first three months.
